I’ve spotted lots of recipes on Pinterest for facial scrubs and masks you can make from kitchen ingredients. Will they work?

fruit masque on faceWhipping up a scrub with baking soda or sugar is a great way to brighten your complexion by removing dead cells. (Just be gentle!)

And while they aren’t necessarily less expensive than store-bought, masks made with avocado, honey, and yogurt are nice for a hydration fix. I’m skeptical, however, of DIY (do-it-yourself) potions with an anti-aging promise. It’s very difficult to formulate a product that actually sinks deep enough into your epidermis to boost collagen and elastin production, the process that smooths fine lines and wrinkles. Essentially, it’s a task that’s beyond your blender.
